For those who live on the margins of society, there exists in migration a kind of “non-state”; one where movement becomes an act of emancipation and transgression. There we found a beginning. In our naiveté, there was a place of real autonomy. As the forces of territorial fixation grew in this place, the hierarchy holding it together became more rigid and entangled.
