Monika K. Adler: Between Crowds and Horizons

Some stories don’t ask to be told — they quietly insist.

The Rare Storyteller feature Between Crowds and Horizons is one of those moments where I paused, looked back, and realised how much of myself lives inside my images.

I’m drawn to contrasts: the density of crowds and the freedom of open space, the noise of cities and the silence that follows when you look long enough. Photography, for me, is a way of listening — to places, to people, to the spaces in between. Every frame carries a question, a memory, or a fleeting feeling that didn’t want to disappear unnoticed.

This article reflects my ongoing journey of observing without interrupting, of standing still while the world moves, and of finding poetry in ordinary moments. It’s about curiosity, distance, closeness — and the quiet beauty of not fully arriving.
I’m grateful to Rare Storyteller for seeing this path and putting words to what often lives beyond language.

The journey continues — somewhere between crowds and horizons.
